Welcome to Lau-Land

LauFolk trio Lau (Martin Green, Aidan O’Rourke and Kris Drever) follow the huge acclaim received for their ‘Race The Loser’ album and tour by curating their own festival at Sage Gateshead. Lau-land invites you to enter into Lau’s musical world and experience some of the inspiring artists who have influenced Lau’s inventive approach to their own music.

The festival opens on May 29th with a concert by Lau with support from Aoife O’Donovan followed by concerts featuring The Unthanks with Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill, along with concerts by The Voice Squad, Chris Wood & Andy Cutting, Michael Chapman with Fred Frith, Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap) & RM Hubbert sitting alongside workshops and talks including the Sonic Thinking Seminar with composer and improviser Fred Frith and Adrian Utley of Portishead.

A free Emerging Musicians stage (hand picked by Lau from entries sent to their website) and a installation from west country DIY electronics collective Hacker Farm are at the heart of Lau-Land, with additional late night events at Gateshead’s Central Bar with Lord Rochester, Haiku Salut and many more. The festival also includes events for families with a Big Family Song and Dance on Saturday May 31st. For more information visit the link below.
