Nic Jones - Unpeeled

Nic JonesThe Continental in Preston is celebrating John Peel day with a number of gigs featuring artists who recorded sessions for the legendary DJ.  On Sunday 20th October it's 'Folk Peel' with a very special line up.

There's a rare chance to see BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year Nic Jones, in an intimate venue (The Continental holds around 130) as he peforms as a duo with his son Joseph.

Jones is amongst the most acclaimed artists to emerge from the British Folk Revival. Despite a car accident that ended his career in 1982, he remains one of the most influential and respected performers and over the past few years he has made a handful of concert appearances.
Mike Heron & Trembling Bells: The Circle is Unbroken promises to cover rare and popular material from the Incredible String Band song book and much more besides. This promises to be a spectacular evocation of the times in Heron’s 70th birthday year.

Emma Pollock was one of the two songwriters of Scottish group The Delgados, favourites of John Peel and his listeners, who recorded 15 sessions between 1995 and 2004. The band also featured in the Festive Fifty over a dozen times, securing the number 1 slot in 1998 with Pull The Wires From The Wall.

Folk Peel is at The Continental, South Meadow Lane, Preston, Lancashire PR1 8JP on Sunday 20th October at 7.30 pm

Advance tickets priced £15.00, are available online now.  See the venue link below for further details.
They can also be obtained in person from The Continental Bar, Action Records Preston and Preston Tourist Information (Guild Hall Box Office) from next week.
