North West Folk News No23

Pete Morton is appearing at The Village Folk Club on 16th October. Tickets are £8 and can be purchased online or pay on the door, subject to available spaces.

The Village Folk Club meets monthly and is located in Manchester’s gay village, at Taurus Bar, No. I Canal Street. 5 mins walk from Piccadilly station.

Future guests include Haddo, The Bailey Sisters and Gavin Davenport.

There’s a Good Dog

The Dog Inn in Whalley continues with its open mic sessions on the first Thursday of every month. However, the December event will be held on the 13th rather than the 6th due to Whalley Pickwick Night

In addition there’s a concert on 15th November featuring folk rock performer with a difference Ash Mandrake (pictured), who brings his world of medieval madness, music, loop machines, storytelling and comedy to this part of Lancashire.

The Hole Gets Bigger.  Or Maybe There’s Just More of Them

There’s a new open mic night the Black Horse in Darwen this coming Sunday 14th October organised by Craig Priestley who has run the Hole Note Acoustic Club for some time.

There will be open mic spots of 3 to 4 songs each depending on numbers . The events will be held every second and fourth Sunday and the plan is to have a special guest headlining every night.

The Black Horse is at 72 Redearth Road Darwen BB3 2AF close to the town centre just up the road from Sainsburys.
