Tim Edey and Brendan Power Go Goblin

North West Folk music clubs picGoblins in the Ginnel run by Sarah Kirkham at the Globe Inn in Glossop continues to offer a superior kind of folk act with this month's visit of Tim Edey and Brendan Power.

The pair were recently crowned best duo at the Radio Two Folk Awards and Edey bagged musician of the year. Support is supplied by Michelle Holding and Bonz with profits going to Tameside & Glossop Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Globe is an intimate venue with a variety of beers and a decent menu if you fancy a bite before the music. Doors open at 7.30 pm and things get underway at 8.15 pm.

Hepworth Live

The next Hepworth Live concert is on Friday 24th Feb featuring Megson, twice nominated in previous years for the Radio 2 Folk awards.

Supporting comes from The Smoking Years, a band of young musicians who have come together at York University and which includes Sarah Horn. Sarah is well known locally for appearances at Holmfirth Festival with Jiggawatt and with James Cudworth. Sarah and James have appeared previously at Hepworth.

Tickets for Chris Wood on March 31st are going fast. Those interested are advised to purchase soon as the gig is likely to sell out well in advance.

Save Our Coastguards

Not directly folk music related, although the genre has more than it's share of material involving salt water. North West Folk has been asked to help in raising awareness of the Government plans to close 50% of the UK's Coastguard Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres.
