A Special Night in Store with the Pitmen Poets

North West Folk music clubs picOn Friday 14th October, there's a rare chance to see an event that's close to unique, when Wigan Parish Church plays host to the Pitmen Poets.

Bob Fox, Billy Mitchell, Benny Graham and Jez Lowe are well known to contemporary folk audiences, but in this project they have combined to produce a concert celebrating the culture and history of North East England's coal mining industry.

The four will perform both individually and collectively, with songs that chronicle the dominance and demise of a way of life.

The show, which also features photographs and archive footage, first played to an enthusiastic reception at The Kings Place in London around eighteen months ago, followed by a sell out performance at the Sage in Gateshead. It is now touring throughout this autumn and during spring 2012.

Tickets are 17 on the night or 15 in advance and can be obtained by calling 01942 824291 or by e-mailing dtcartildge@gmail.com.
