A Folk Club in Manchester Village
|Tuesday 18th October sees the launch of The Village Folk Club at Taurus Bar in Manchester's Gay Village. The club will embrace wide ranging elements of folk from singing and instrumentalists to storytelling and dancing, from the ultra-traditional and Country, to nu-folk.|
First up is folk/indie singer songwriter Rae Spoon from Calgary, Alberta who has eight albums to his credit, the latest of which is Love is a Hunter.
Also on the bill is by Lianne Hall described by the late John Peel as 'one of the great English voices'.
Lianne and Rae will be supported by resident artists Ruthie Boycott-Garnett and Esther Ferry-Kennington bringing songs and stories, cello and even a bit of Hurdy-Gurdy. Ruthie is a well-known storyteller having initially gained renown at The Young Storyteller of the Year competition and Esther is a regular on the folk circuit and long-standing member of Manchester Lesbian & Gay chorus.
Tickets are priced at £6/£4 and the event gets underway at 7.30 pm.
